Development and Implementation of a Model of Outpatient Nursing Standards in F2 Community Hospital, Roi Et Province

Abstract

Purposes : The objectives were: to study the problem condition of outpatient nursing standards, to develop and implement a model of outpatient nursing standards and to evaluate the implementation of the model of outpatient nursing standards in F2 Community Hospitals, Roi Et Province.

Study Design : Research and Development Research.

Materials and Methods : The sample group was 42 of participants were professional nurses and 314 of patients of F2 Community Hospitals. The data were collected qualitatively and quantitatively. The study were divided into 4 phases: A situation study phase, system design phase development process and evaluation. The data were collected using a questionnaire and brainstorming group discussions. The data were analyzed using PNI modified, frequency, percentage mean, and standard deviation.

Main findings : It was found that level of nowadays condition and level of expected condition in compliance with health promotion standards were at highest level of necessity PNI_Modified=0.200, followed by health protection PNI_Modified=0.176 and provision of information and knowledge of health PNI_Modified=0.134. The development model consists of 1) survey and analysis of problem conditions and needs, 2) develop personnel potential in order 3) find out problems and plan for development and 4) evaluation and summary of lessons learned. After the development of model, it were found that standard outpatient compliance that increased at highest level were providing health information and knowledge (7.79%). According to evaluating of attitude of nursing personnel toward use of outpatient nursing standards, the attitude toward output was at highest level (Mean=4.42, SD.=0.48) and the recipients were satisfied with service at a high level (73.24%).

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this study indicate that  development               of nursing service quality was a mechanism that stimulates learning and development of both individuals and work systems. The results of development will allow service recipients to receive appropriate and better-quality care and there will be a small number of risks of substandard care.
