Counseling for teenage pregnant women infected with HIV : Two Case Studies

Abstract

Purposes : To study the counseling process for teenage pregnant women infected with HIV.

Materials and Methods : This were a case study of two patients to compare teenage pregnant women infected with HIV who received treatment at an HIV clinic Khon Kaen Hospital. Collect data using patient information recording from outpatient medical records. Taking patient and family history, evaluate symptoms from pathological conditions signs and symptoms, treatment and nursing diagnosis, analyzing data and Gordon's health model was conceptual framework for the study by theory of psychological counseling, the concept of person-centered counseling, the concept of family counseling that emphasizes experience and humanism and nursing theory.

Main findings : Two patients were compared. What they have in common was that they were teenage girls who were pregnant and infected with HIV but the spouse of the pregnant woman was not infected. Patients and families were worried about the health of both the patient and their children, fearing that their children will be infected.
