Developing the model for surveillance, control and prevention of the epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with the process of improving the quality of life at the district level (PCC), Muang Ubon Ratchathani district

Abstract

Purpose : To purpose of this study aimed to develop a model for surveillance, control, and prevention of the epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019 with the process of improving the quality of life at the district level (PCC).

Study design : This study was an action research.  Four steps of action research were run on process (Planning, Action, Observation and Reflection : PAOR).

Materials and Methods : 40 of cases were selected from the process of improving a quality of life at district level (PCC), Muang Ubon Ratchathani district and related network members. The sample group in the model evaluation consisted of 400 household representatives. The quantitative  data  were  mainly  analyzed  through  descriptive  statistics,  and  a statistical paired  t-test  and  the  qualitative  data  were  mainly  analyzed through  content  analysis.

Main findings : The model for surveillance, control and prevention of the epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019 with the process of improving the quality of life at district level (PCC), Muang Ubon Ratchathani district with process of improving the quality of life at district level consists of 6 strategies 1) Strategic leadership 2) Surveillance, prevention and control of disease 3) Network and community participation through the concept of "Ubon doesn't abandon each other." 4) Finding/screen at-risk groups 5) Treatment system management and knowledge 6) Assistance with operations, materials, equipment, and information system development. The mean score of knowledge, participation and the practice of surveillance, control and prevention of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 were significantly increased (P < 0.001) Satisfaction with the model was at a high level. The result of model evaluation found that on any processes were indicated that: according; fit; possible; and accepted to implementation. The key success factor is Muangubon Model with composed of M : Management, U : unity ,A:Activity , N: Network ,G :Generate, U : Uncover, B : Budget, O Opportunity , N : News , D : Data, E : Evaluation, L : Learning.

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this research resulted in the sample group having knowledge, participation and the practice of surveillance, control, and prevention of the epidemic of coronavirus disease  increased.
