An outbreak investigation of influenza A/H1N1 in Moo 6 and 13,Nanuan sub-district, Panomprai district, Roi-Et province, April 2018

Abstract

            Investigation of H1N1 influenza type A outbreak in Moo 6 and 13 , Nanaun Subdistrict. Panomprai district. Roi-et province. April, 2018.

             April 5, 2018. The epidemiologic and surveillance department , Roi-et Public Health Office the report from epidemiologic department of Panomprai hospital, roi-et provice. They find a group of patient who have flu-like symptom. Getting treatment at Panomprai hospital and Nanaun health promoting hospital, Pranomprai district during 25 march 2017 to 4 April 2017. There are 17 patients that live in Moo 6 and 13 , Nanual subditrict, Roi-et province. Then the provincial epidemiologist notify Panompri s SRRT and 13 rd FEMT student to investigate and initial disease containment. The study design was conduct by descriptive study. initially collect general data of community , retrospection for epidemic data using medical record and furthermore searching for the rest of patient in community. The disease definition for suspected case is a patient who live in Moo 6 and 13 village of Nanuan subdistric.Panomprai district with at least one symptom from cough, sore throat during 1 march 2017 to 20 April 2017. Confirmed case define as symptomatic patient who get throat swab and nasopharyngeal swab test by PCR technique for influenza virus particle or other method to confirm influenza infection by laboratory test. Analytic study by Retrospective Cohort study to define risk factor.

                 The result of investigation found that the definitive eligible case account for 98 patients that is the attack rate were 27.53 percent. Confirm test account for 1 patient leading to mobidity rate were 1 percent. The attack ratio for female to male are 1.28 : 1. The most age group prevalence was 55–64 years that was 30.61 percents. The minimal age was 2 years old and the maximal age was 83 years old. The aged mean was 56 years old. Most of patient occupation was a farmer (63.27 percent). the prevalence of symptom are fever (100 pecents), couph (92.86 percent) . Health provider unit mostly are private clinic (57.14). the risk factors for infection mostly was previously contact for ill patient (OR = 37.27, 95 % CI = 10.4 6–99.60) and the another risk factor was sleeping closely to ill patient (OR = 2.45, 95 % CI = 1.05–5.74) both of these risk factor demonstrate respiratory contact that eligible to influenza infection.and confirm of epidemics by laboratory test reveal influenza type 4, subtype H1N1 infection.
