Situation and Surveillance of Health Products on Radio Advertising in Si Somdet District, Roi-Et

Abstract

Purposes : To determine the situation of illegal health products advertisement through clearly heard radio stations in the area of Si Somdet District, Roi Et Province , and to set up surveillance guidelines in the area.

Design : Action research

Materials and Methods : The researcher recorded the broadcast on radio stations that can be heard clearly in in the area of Si Somdet District, Roi Et Province by selecting 10 stations from the time of opening to closing time , 2 days per station between 12 April 2018 to 19 April 2018. Analyse the quantitative data by using descriptive statistics, percentage and mean. And to set up surveillance guidelines in the area.

Main findings : The 5 of 10 radio stations have at least one illegal advertisement of health products , 1,284 total advertisements have 683 times (53.19%) of illegal advertising among products identified as drugs, food and cosmetics  were 55.34% , 41.43% and 3.22% respectively. The most of illegal advertisement are use false or exaggerated drug properties.

Conclusion and recommendations : To set up surveillance guidelines in the area by surveillance and monitoring the illegal advertisement and implement to the public in community network and development knowledge in advertising literacy.
