Self-care of patients with chronic kidney disease who receive renal replacement therapy with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis at. Suwannaphum Hospital

Abstract

Purpose :  to study self-care and compare self-care classified by various factors of peritoneal dialysis patients.

Design : . descriptive research.

Materials and Methods : The 70 samples by specific selection from abdominal dialysis patients who received follow-up treatment at Suwannaphum Hospital. Research tools Questionnaires Consisting of 4 parts: general information, knowledge of peritoneal dialysis, social support questionnaires and self-care  of peritoneal dialysis patients which passed content validation from experts and reliability test by Cronbach's alpha was 0.65 and 0.67. Data were collected by interviewing the sample group between 1 April 2019 - 15 June 2019. Analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentage, average, standard deviation and Inferred statistics are Independent t-test and F-test

Main findings: The results showed that patients on peritoneal dialysis had the knowledge score of peritoneal dialysis at a moderate level (69%), social support (58%) and self care were good (59%) respectively.

Conclusion and recommendations: There should be development of teaching styles, media, counseling, networking for friendship therapy group. To develop the potential, efficiency, self-care Including coordination of multidisciplinary teams Promoting social support To participate in self-care To be the driving force Helping patients to act correctly, live happily and have a good quality of life.
