Lesson Learned from Home Health Care Operation in Pattani Province

Abstract

Purposes: To explore the home health care operation in Pattani Province. The concept of the 6 building blocks of health system by WHO and the quality of criteria for home health care visit by Bureau of Nursing were used as a framework.

Design: Mixed method research

Materials and Methods: Participants were 154 health  professionals who were responsible for home health care visit in hospitals and health promotion hospitals in Pattani Province. Data were collected using questionnaires and focus group discussions. Data were analyzed using content analysis.

Main findings:  There were 134 participants  participated in this study. The results shows the outcomes of home health care operation in 6 aspects (1) 31% of  having holistic/proactive health care policy (2) 65% of  having appropriate medical equipment and ready to use (3) 54% of visiting home by a multidisciplinary team (4) 69% of  giving a counseling using Line application (5) 50% of using home visit program and (6) 63% of preparing prior to home visit.  According to the focus group discussions, there were  24  persons participated. The results shows (1) health professionals who responsible for the home work expected to the quality of home care visit and all people received home visit, (2) the key success factors for a home visit included the knowledgeable staff, skills in patient care, understand the context, collaboration from multidisciplinary team, having a consulting/referring, and having effectiveness of technology, monitoring system by continuous care centers, cooperating from community leaders and net works, and supporting the budget.

Conclusion and recommendation: Home health care  is an  important  tool for the public health to providing the fine quality living continuously. This need cooperation  from  all  involved  parts. The Ministry of  Public Health’s executives , therefore, should concern by providing  good supports, regulation and coordination.
