The Development of Quality Diagnostic Radiology in Community Hospital of Yasothon Province, With MOPH X-ray Standard 2022

Abstract

Purposes: To examine the current situation, challenges, and needs, as well as to develop, evaluate, and disseminate quality improvement measures for radiology laboratories in community hospitals in Yasothon Province.

Study design: Research and Development (R&D).

Materials and Methods: The study involved seven radiology personnel from community hospitals between November 2022 and July 2023. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and a radiology laboratory quality assessment form (F1715122). Statistical analysis included percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

Main findings: The quality improvement process consisted of three phases: 1) Situation analysis: The overall quality score was 65.61%, with the lowest performance in result reporting (28.57%) and monitoring and evaluation (42.85%). Key challenges included a lack of knowledge in documenting standard operating procedures (Mean=4.87) and radiation dose calculation (Mean=4.81). 2) Implementation of quality improvement: A structured improvement model was designed, a guideline manual was developed, and a pilot implementation was conducted. This resulted in a 31.45% overall quality improvement, with 100% of participants meeting the competency assessment criteria. (1)Evaluation and dissemination: Post-implementation, 81% of personnel adhered to the established standards, and overall satisfaction was rated as high (Mean=4.65). Key areas for further improvement identified through focus group discussions included personnel development, safety measures, and quality control, with recommendations for periodic evaluations every six months. The findings were disseminated through an oral presentation at the 21^st Thai Radiological Technology Conference. (2) Conclusion and Recommendations: The proposed quality improvement approach effectively enhanced radiology laboratory standards, improved personnel adherence to protocols, and achieved high satisfaction levels.
