Development of Nursing Practice Guideline for Pediatric Patient with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Phon Thong, Roi-Et

Abstract

Purposes : To development and Evaluation of a clinical nursing practice guideline for pediatric patient with dengue hemorrhagic fever in Phon Thong, Roi-Et.

Study design : Mutual collaborative action research.

Materials and Methods : 25 of key informants were included pediatric dengue fever patients at Phon Thong Hospital, 11 of related service providers, and 6 of participants  primarily responsible for developing clinical nursing guidelines. We were conducted from September 2023 to January 2024. Data were collected using recording forms, assessment forms, and group discussion questions, and analyzed data using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. and content analysis.

Main findings : Nursing clinical guidelines for pediatric patients with dengue fever consist of 2 parts: 1) Guidelines for caring for pediatric patients with suspected dengue fever include measuring temperature, doing touniquet tests, and following up with laboratory tests, providing care according to symptoms giving advice distribute pamphlets, and 2) Nursing care of children with dengue fever when they are admitted to the hospital, consisting of (1) arranging zones for accepting children with dengue fever within the ward, (2) assessing symptoms, (3) nursing care of children with dengue fever in 3 phases by Fever phase, crisis/shock phase and recovery phase, (4) discharge planning, and (5) follow-up of pediatric dengue fever patients after discharge from  hospital by telephone.

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this research result in developed nursing guidelines for pediatric patients with dengue fever being useful as a guideline for nurses to prevent, monitor and manage severe complications. and can die.
