The Development of Iodine Deficiency Prevention to Literacy Model on Develop Intelligent Children by District Quality of Life Committee Wapi Pathum District, Maha Sarakham Province

Abstract

Purposes : To study situation of literacy, developing process, and evaluation process of Iodine deficiency prevention to literacy on develop intelligent children by district quality of life committee Wapi Pathum District, Maha Sarakham province.

Study design : Mutual collaborative action research.

Materials and Methods : 21 of Key informants were women of reproductive age in situation study phase, 21 of services system development phase, 3 of service providers and 26 of main responsible participants. The research was conducted from October 2021 to September 2022 Data were collected using knowledge tests, questionnaires, and performance evaluation forms, and analyzed data using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

Main findings : 1) An important problem found were the lack of a surveillance system, supervision and monitoring, using data to driven decision making, public relations campaigns and promoting literacy about prevention of iodine deficiency disorders; IDD. 2) The process of literacy model were consisted of creating a trend, providing quality prenatal care services, prepare a lunch menu, encourage students to eat egg. the school organizes learning activities on iodine deficiency and nutrition, little Iodine ambassador activity prescribe iodine, iron, and folic acid, tablets to all postpartum women, encourage consumption of quality iodized salt, and there were continuous surveillance and monitoring, and 3) operational results found that most passed the specified indicators.

Conclusion and recommendation s: The results of this research show that the developed intervention resulted in increased knowledge about preventing iodine deficiency.
