Development of a Care Patients with Respiratory Infection at Emergency and Forensic Unit, Bandung Hospital

Abstract

Purposes : To study a situation, develop a system and evaluate a results of the system for caring for patients with respiratory infections, at Emergency and Forensic Unit, Bandung Hospital.

Study design : Action research design.

Materials and Methods: Research co-conductor were consisted service users professional nurses and co-researchers, we were conducted research between August and December 2023, divided into three phases: situation analysis, develop a service system and evaluate the results. Data were collected using a recording form, practice evaluation form question guidelines for interviews and group discussions. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation and content analysis.

Main findings : A situation analysis phase found that; service problems in both processes. The development of the service system, it was found that there were 2 quality cycles development processes regarding 1) referral of patients for examination at respiratory infection patient zone, 2) screening by nurses,3) compliance with CPG  4) Diagnosis 5) discharge 6) submitting cases to ARI clinic nurses with screening form attached, 7) attaching a warning sign to  stretcher/wheelchair (in the case of ATK +ve) and 8) cloth closing, cover the patient's mouth/nose. During the evaluation period, it was found that compliance with CPG, caring for patients and nurses being the screeners (100.0%), notifying the SRRT team, controlling, monitoring and monitoring risk groups (90.0%), referring cases to ARI nurses, the clinic attaches a screening sheet and covers the mouth/nose with a cloth. Patients (100.0%)

Conclusion and recommendations : A results of this study show that developed care system for patients with respiratory infections can help patients received care quickly and standardized.
