Development of Prevention Systems of Road Traffic Accidents by District Health Board Mechanisms, Song Dao District, Sakon Nakhon Province

Abstract

Purposes : To study a situation, develop the system, and evaluate on system for traffic accidents by district health board mechanisms, Song Dao District, Sakon Nakhon.

Study design : Research and development design

Materials and Methods : Two phases were research were divided into 2: developing a road traffic accident prevention system; By reviewing concepts and theories, exploring problem conditions, Creating and developing a system and providing knowledge to target group. (2) Training and evaluating the development of a road traffic accident prevention system. Data were collected using accident records. We were conducted for a period of 12 months. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and % difference.     

Main findings : 1) Problem situation found that; The causes of most traffic accidents are factors related to drivers, road conditions, vehicle conditions, and surroundings. The road traffic accident prevention system had 4 steps: (1) creating a network of workers (2) managing and developing a database system (3) setting goals and planning operations (4) implementing the plan (5) evaluated by a participatory. 3) After improving road safety management conditions in all 10 areas, the overall increase was 6.27% and in 2023 there were 431 accidents, a decreased from 2022, representing a 2.75%, 529 of were injured, a decrease of 0.57%, and 6 of died, a decrease of 13.33%, respectively.

Conclusion and recommendations : The results of this study resulted in a reduction in accidents, Therefore, relevant units should implement this system.
