Implementation Model of Promoting Drug Use in the Elderly at Na Chueak District, Mahasarakham Province

Purposes : To study the model in the implementation of promoting drug use in the elderly by survey the household drug use through pharmaceutical home health care visits.
Study design : Action Research
Materials and Methods : The research was an action research in the elderly who had 1 of 8 chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart disease, gout, asthma, osteoarthritis, chronic kidney disease) and under the inclusion criteria at Na Chueak hospital , Maha sarakham Province. The data was collected from 15 January to 15 April 2022 in 82 cases by using the household drug use questionnaire survey from FDA Thailand 2017 and analyze the data by using descriptive statistics.
Main findings : The model in the implementation of promoting drug use in the elderly consists of 1) Policy-making by PTC committee 2) Developing of personal knowledge 3) Pharmaceutical home health care visit by Pharmacist 4) To empowering drug rational drug use and health products safety use 5) To surveillance and warning about inappropriate use of health products and compared with the previous model that not the multidisciplinary work and developing knowledge for health volunteer only.
Conclusion and recommendation : The results of this research as a result, the targets group were more awareness of using of inappropriate drugs and health products. Therefore, relevant agencies should take action in the area.
