Abstract

Quality of working life is important part will lead the organization to be better. The purposes of this descriptive research were to examine the level of quality of working life and analyzed the factors that related to quality of working life of nursing staffs in Hospital for Tropical Diseases. The samples were 158 nursing staffs. Data collection by questionnaire including 1) personal data 2) corporate commitment 3) job feature 4) organization atmosphere and 5) quality of working life. The reliability tested by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was .92, .89, .87 and .95 respectively. The data were statistically analyzed by Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, and Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient.
The research results were as quality of the working life of nursing staffs in Hospital for Tropical Diseases,
Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, averaging in descending order Is the organizational commitment, Job characteristics and organizational atmosphere was at high level (m = 3.9, 3.9, 3.9, 3.7). Personal characteristics related to the quality of work life of nursing staffs were age, education level, current monthly income and work experience. (r = .53, .41, .45, .55). Organizational commitment, job characteristics, organizational atmosphere have positive relationships with quality of the working life of nursing staffs with statistical significance at the level of 0.01. (r = .80, .73, .86). Based on the findings nursing executive and related person can be used as a data base for improving and planning administration for nursing staffs.
