Factors Predicting Resilience of Nursing Students in Nursing Colleges under Praboromarajchanok institute in North Eastern College Network

Abstract

                The purposes of this research aimed to study relationship between selected factors related to resilience and factors predicting resilience of nursing students in nursing colleges under Praboromarajchanok institute in north eastern college network. The sample consisted of 120 nursing students from nursing colleges under Praboromarajchanok institute in north eastern college network. The research instruments used were questionnaires including 6 dimensions;
1) demographic data 2) stress 3) coping stress 4) negative life event 5) esteem, and 6) resilience. Data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, pearson’s coefficient correlation, and multiple Regression. The results of this research showed that 1) self-esteem, coping stress was significantly positive relate to resilience (r = .387, p <.01) และ (r = .385, p <.01) respectively, and negative life event was significantly negative relate to resilience (r = -.275, p <.01). 2) self-esteem and coping stress can predict 22.50 % of variance for resilience of nursing students. The predictive equation in standardized score:  Ŷ = (.234 x coping stress) + (.315 x self-esteem). The results suggest that should be promote program resilience of nursing students focusing on practice coping stress and self-esteem. Integrative nursing curriculum and extra curriculum activities for reinforce students pass negative life event. Provide counseling services to help students who have problems or negative life events.
