Study of Certified Hemp Seed Production to comply with thae Narcotics Act, B.E.2522

Abstract

The objective of this study lead to the production of certified hemp seed under the Ministerial Regulation title, Application of License and Licensing of production Sale or Possession in narcotics schedule 5 B.E.2559, In the past, hemp was illicit plant. The hilltribes grown for the traditional and culture used in the highlands especially the Hmong hilltribes. Hemp is the same family as cannabis. Both plants contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a substance that is known to cause hallucination and addictive effects. In this study, samples were sampling from the inflorescences and leaves every 60, 90 days and flowering days (about 687 samples). The samples were analyzed at the Chiang Mai Medical Center for the determination of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The results showed that there were 3 varieties which THC content not exceeding 1% per dry weight as required by law, which are grown in different environments and geographical factors. The government agencies must continue to collect samples to confirm the content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), summarized the result and summit to the meeting of the Committee of narcotics control board to be considered for announce a certification hemp seed.
