ความปวดในผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวีมีสาเหตุความปวดจากหลากหลายสาเหตุ ได้แก่ จากสาเหตุการติดเชื้อเอชไอวีและการติดเชื้อฉวยโอกาส จากการรักษาที่ได้รับ และจากสาเหตุที่ไม่เกี่ยวข้องกับการติดเชื้อเอชไอวีแต่เป็นสาเหตุจากการดำเนินชีวิต ผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวีต้องเผชิญกับอาการและอาการแสดงที่หลากหลาย ซึ่งมีผลต่อการทำหน้าที่ของร่างกายและจิตใจ เมื่อผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวีเริ่มมีอาการปวดจึงเป็นสิ่งบ่งบอกสำคัญที่แสดงให้เห็นว่าผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวีอาจมีการกำเริบของโรคหรือมีติดเชื้อฉวยโอกาสได้ วัตถุประสงค์บทความวิชาการเพื่อทำเข้าใจความปวดและความสำคัญของการประเมินความปวดในผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวีทั้งแบบรายงานด้วยตนเองและจากการสังเกตนำไปสู่การจัดการความปวดในผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวีทั้งแบบไม่ใช้ยาและแบบใช้ยาได้อย่างเหมาะสมส่งผลคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีของผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวี
