Cleidocranial dysostosis -

Abstract

Cleidocranial dysostosis is a rare congenital autosomal dominant disorder which affects the development
of bone and teeth. The major skeletal feature is hypoplastic or clavicle aplasia. Due to the clavicle abnormality,
the patients are capable of bringing the humeral head of clavicle close anteriorly together. Moreover, they
usually have jawbone discrepancy resulted from the alter in facial skeletal development. The main dental
conditions are retained primary teeth and also multiple supernumerary teeth, in which lies between the root of
primary teeth and impacted permanent teeth in both maxillary and mandibular arch. The dental approach will
mainly focus on performing artificial eruption of all permanent teeth and correction of the skeletal discrepancy
in order to accomplish optimal occlusion, improving patient’s facial esthetic and offer better quality of life
for the patients. In this case report, two Cleidocranial dysostosis patients treated in Orthodontic clinic, Dental
hospital, Prince of Songkla University were reported with the concern of delayed eruption of permanent teeth.
This article reported the optional treatment protocol used in these patients.
