Abstract

Even the incidence of Pierre Robin sequence that is a congenital anomaly has been estimated to be 1.2 per 10,000 births, the clinical triad of Pierre Robin sequence characterized by mandibular hypoplasia, glossoptosis which caused an upper airway obstruction, and u-shaped cleft palate can be potentially life-threatening problems of infants and neonates. Early detection and proper management can reduce the problem and save the lives. This article presents some of updating information of Pierre Robin sequence emphasizing on treatment modalities, orthodontist’s role within multi-disciplinary management and a case report.
