The Selecting Patterns to Treat Households Illness in Isan Rural Areas

Abstract
This research aimed to describe the selecting patterns to treat households illness with 4 patterns including: (1) Modern Medicine; (2) Folk Wisdom Medicine; (3) Thai Medicine; and (4) Alternative Medicine. Data were collected through the head of the family or the family health leaders in Pang-Cone district, Sakon Nakhon province by the questionnaire with validity and reliability. A total of 380 samples were randomized by multi stages random sampling. The data were analyzed by percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The results of this research found that most samples have knowledge and awareness about health care in their families and be able to access health services close to their home at the moderate level (= 2.26), they received health information and news at the moderate level (= 2.51), they received social support in health care from their members in their families at the moderate level (= 3.15), received social support in health care from public health officials at the high level. (= 3.41), and received social support in health care from their friends or close persons at the moderate level (= 2.74). In addition, most of the samples group selecting patterns to treat households illness by Modern Medicine at the high level. (= 3.24), Thai Medicine at the moderate level (= 2.76), Folk Wisdom Medicine at the moderate level (= 2.15), and Alternative Medicine at the low level. ( = 1.59). Suggestions should be encouraged to treat households illness by Alternative Medicine.
