Behaviors of Chemical Pesticide Uses and the Effectiveness of an Occupational Health Education Program of Safety Knowledge among Farmers in Upriver Area, Phayao Province

Abstract
The objectives of this quasi-experimental research were to study behaviors of chemical pesticide uses and evaluate the effectiveness of
an occupational health education program of safety knowledge among farmers in upriver area, Phayao province. Questionnaire was employed
in this study with the farmers from a total of 110 participants. Occupational health education program was used for 37 farmers who had
chemical pesticide unsafe level in blood. Oneway analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the paired t-test were used to analyze data.
Results indicated that the risk level of behaviors of chemical pesticide in he experimental group was at the moderate high level. Moreover, the experimental group had signifcantly better knowledge in chemical pesticide uses after than before having program at 0.01 levels. Therefore, giving an individual education should be promoted and monitored to farmers with periodic knowledge booster and practice correctly, safely and consistently.
