The Effect of Royal Thai Traditional Massage with Maneeveda Exercise in Office Syndrome Patients, Dontum Hospital Nakhonpathom Province

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to investigate the effect of Royal Thai traditional massage with Maneeveda exercise among in office syndrome patients at Dontum hospital Nakhonpathom province. Sixty patients with office syndrome were purposively selected according to given requirements of this research. The sample group of 60 were equally divided into two groups with similar characteristics (experimental group of 30 and acontrol group of 30). The research instrument included questionnaires of general information, pain level assessment of shoulder muscles and the measurement of movement angle on the neck. Descriptive statistics (i.e. percentage, average and standard deviation) were used for an initial data analysis. Paired sample t-test an independent t-test were tested statistically for comparing the average score of pain  level at shoulder  and that of movement angle around neck within group and between group, respectively.

The result showed that the average scores of shoulder pain and neck movement angle by comparing between before the first treatment and after the third treatment of both the control group and the experimental group, were significantly different (p-value < 0.05). the average scores of shoulder pain degree and neck movement angle after the third treatment,   by comparing between the experimental group and the control group were significantly different (p-value < 0.05). It can be concluded that the experimental group treated with the combination of the Royal massage and the Royal massage with Maneeveda exercise . apparently decreased in the shoulder pain degree and increased in the neck movement angle when comparing with the control group.

In conclusion, This research strongly supports the treatment by using the Royal massage combined with Maneeveda exercise it can reduce pain in the shoulder muscles more efficiently.
