ABSTRACT

This descriptive study aimed to examine the predictors of exercise behavior among health volunteers at Tambon Sanamchai, Muang District, Suphanburi Province based on Pender’s  Health Promotion theory.  Data were gained by questionnaire from 121 health volunteers who
volunteered to participate in this study.  Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the data.

Results showed that personal factors such as age and gender were not the predictors of the variance in health volunteer exercise behavior. The predictor model with perceived benefits of exercise and perceived barriers of exercise was able to count for 60.60 percent of the variance of health volunteer exercise behavior (Adjust R2 = 0 .606, p< .001).

The resulted pointed out that both perceived benefits of exercise and perceived barriers of exercise were the two main best predictors of exercise behaviors among these health volunteers.

The findings suggested that any exercise programs intervention for this health care
volunteer should consider the account of perceived benefits of exercise and the perceived barriers of exercise behavior factors.
