Evaluation of course effectiveness of the Diploma of Science Program in Emergency Medical Operation (Revised curriculum 2021) Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract

This study was a mixed-methods study using the ZIPPO assessment process. The objectives were to evaluate the efficiency of the Diploma of Science Program in Emergency Medical Operation (Revised Curriculum 2021), Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Ubon Ratchathani Province, and to study the guidelines for improving the curriculum in 2026. Sample group 201 people include students, graduate users, graduates, instructors in charge of the curriculum, instructors and college administrators. Data were collected using a questionnaire adapted from the Zippo assessment, the Curriculum Productivity Data Collection Form, and semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

The results found that the overall curriculum evaluation was very appropriate (M=4.42, SD±.45). The most appropriate factors were Curriculum Output and Outcomes (M=4.58, SD±.50 and M =4.54, SD±.48, respectively). In terms of Curriculum Input, Instructors had the highest mean (M=4.73, SD±.12) and Budget had the lowest mean (M=3.42, SD±.58). In this regard, the sample group proposed guidelines for improving the curriculum to recruit a sufficient number of permanent instructors with expertise in emergency medicine, provide equipment that is actually used with emergency patients in professional skills training, restructure the curriculum to increase the number of credits for professional competency training courses, and update the course content to be up-to-date and keep up with changes in social situations, the environment, and adjustments to emergency patient assistance practices in both Thailand and other countries.
