The Result of Growth Enhancement Program Development on Height and Good Shape of School-Age Children in Suphanburi Province

This Research and development have an aim to study the result of the Growth Enhancement Program Development on Height and the Good Shape of School-Age Children in Suphanburi Province. The samples comprised 120 students who are in Grade 1 to Grade 4 that their height and Good Shape condition are lower than the standard (thin or short), and 120 mothers or parents. The research tools comprise questionnaires and reports by collecting the data before and after experiencing the program. Descriptive Statistic that was used are the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, range, and used Inferential Statistics including Paired-sample t-test and McNemar’s Chi-square test.
The study shows that (1) after the intervention, the average of health behavior of the school-age children is higher with statistically difference at p-value<.001, (2) the ratio of the school-Age children that are light but gained more weight to meet the standard after the intervention has a statistically significant (p-value<.001), (3) the ratio of the school-age children that are short got taller to meet the standard has a statistically significant at 0.01, and (4) the ratio of the school-age children that are thin got more fat to meet the standard has a statistically significant at p-value<.001.
The study suggests using the Growth Enhancement Program to cover the school-age children (6-14 years old), and to push the local administrative organizations and National Health Security Office to provide funding support to solve the problem of children having low growth rate and create provide knowledge and awareness on the using of this program to develop good health of children among parents and teachers.
