โรคใบหน้ากระตุกครึ่งซีก (hemifacial spasm; HFS) สามารถจำแนกได้เป็น 2 กลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มที่ทราบสาเหตุ (symptomatic hemifacial spasm) ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่สามารถรักษาได้ด้วยการผ่าตัด และกลุ่มที่ไม่ทราบสาเหตุ (idiopathic hemifacial spasm) ซึ่งพบว่า ยังคงเป็นปัญหาในทางคลินิก การรักษาในทางการแพทย์แผนปัจจุบันที่ได้รับความนิยมมากที่สุดคือ การฉีดกล้ามเนื้อใบหน้าด้วย โบทูลินุมทอกซิน (botulinum toxin) แต่ยังคงพบผลข้างเคียงที่เกิดขึ้นจากการรักษา การรักษาทางการแพทย์แผนจีน มีความหลากหลายในด้านของรูปแบบการรักษา อาทิเช่น การฝังเข็ม การนวดทุยหนา และการใช้ยาสมุนไพรจีน ซึ่งจากผลการทดลองแสดงให้เห็นถึงประสิทธิภาพของการรักษาอย่างชัดเจน จนจัดเป็นอีกหนึ่งทางเลือกที่ให้ผลการรักษาเป็นที่น่าพอใจอย่างมาก บทความนี้จะได้กล่าวถึงมุมมองและแนวทางการรักษา ผู้ป่วย HFS ด้วยศาสตร์การแพทย์แผนจีนและรวมถึงผลการวิจัยทางคลินิกในปัจจุบัน
