Development of Effecicient Medicine Inventory Management of the Health Promoting Hospital, Uthai District, Phranakorn Sri Ayutthaya Province

Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop the efficiency of medical supplies inventory management of District Health Promoting Hospitals, Uthai District, Phranakorn Sri Ayutthaya Province. It was the action research that created the participation to originate the development process. The target group was a staff of 15 who were in charge of medical supplies management at District Health Promoting Hospitals, District Public Health and Hospitals. In-depth interview and medical supplies inventory management evaluation form were used to collect data in order to analyze the risk of the procedure, and a for development plan that has been set for medical supplies inventory. After that, managing the performance of each round were providing so the participations were able to conclude the guidelines for the development of medical supplies inventory management of the next round. Measurements used in this study were done based on the inventory efficiency indicators, in cluding inventory reserve rate, shortage drug list, expired drugs value and coluparing medical supplies inventory error decrease before and after the development.

The study revealed that there was a development in medical supplies inventory management through the action research two rounds. The first round focused on the guidelines to control the risk in inventory and medical supplies management process. The second round was the development of the three unqualified District Health Promoting Hospitals. List of drugs were analyzed to set the reserve amount and a drug reimbursement system was implemented. After completing the research process, it was found that the average inventory reserve rate achieved the standard, which was three months, the expired drugs and drug shortage problems decreased and the medical supplies inventory error has not exceeded the rate.
