A Study of Changes in the Quality of Life of Agricultural Households Upholding the Royal Sufficiency Agricultural Initiative

Abstract

          This research examines changes in the quality of life of agricultural households in accordance with the Royal Sufficiency Agricultural Initiative (RSAI). The sample group participating in the project included agriculturalists, community leaders, and staff from RSAI's   Huai Sai Development Study Center.  Participants were from eight villages in Tambon Sampraya in Cha-am District in Petchaburi Province. Interviews were conducted to obtain in-depth information, and the data gathered were qualitatively analyzed. The research found that improvements in the quality of life of the agricultural households resulted from the project's successful operations, plus cooperation and assistance from government agencies, community leaders, and members of the participating agricultural households.It was found that major limitations and challenges included inadequate water sources and water shortage to meet the agriculturalists' needs, and that a group of local residents preferred different types of employment with faster pay. In summary, the research presented factors that successfully contributed in organizing the project, discussions, and recommendations for future projects.
