Abstract

This research aimed to study sports leadership and the guidelines for developing sports leadership among students in the Sports Management program, Faculty of Education, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University. The sample consisted of 152 undergraduate students from the Sports Management program, Faculty of Education, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, ranging from the first-to the fourth-year students. Of these, 79 were male and 63 were female, aged between 20 and 21 years. The participants were selected using stratified random sampling.The research findings revealed that: 1. Sports Management students at the Faculty of Education, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University demonstrated an overall high level of sports leadership (M = 3.91, SD = 0.90). When classified by dimension, the emotional aspect had the highest mean score (M = 4.03, SD = 0.89), followed by the cognitive aspect (M = 3.94, SD = 0.91) and the motivational aspect (M = 3.91, SD = 0.92). 2. The findings regarding the guidelines for developing sports leadership among students in the Sports Management program, Faculty of Education, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, were as follows: (1)Cognitive Aspect: Students in the Sports Management program should consistently seek knowledge, enhance creativity and intellectual capacity, develop vision, and participate in study visits to organizations with proven performance. (2) Knowledge and Skills: Sports Management students should be developed through practical work experience. Additionally, the program administrative committee should encourage and provide opportunities for students to gain experience in planning and managing sports effectively and professionally. (3) Personality: Students in the Sports Management program should engage in self-development by integrating social well-being skills and active learning through continuous training in both classroom and extracurricular activities, such as workshops. (4) Human Relations: Students in the Sports Management program should be encouraged to participate in activities and practical training with organizational networks both internally and externally, such as community camps and academic service projects related to sports. (5) Emotional Aspect: Sports Management students should receive training and self-development opportunities to enhance their knowledge and understanding of emotional management. (6) Motivational Aspect: Students in the Sports Management program should continuously update their knowledge to keep pace with changes in the sports industry and should be trained to develop responsibility in organizational administration and team management. The findings of this research can be utilized in curriculum design for the development of students or sports personnel, as well as in the establishment of sports leadership training programs for specific populations, such as athletes with national-level experience.
