A Study of Artifact in Phrapraton Local Museum

Abstract

       This descriptive research on “A study of artifacts in Phrapraton Local Museum” found a total of 224 artifacts and antiques in different periods as following;

1. Artifacts and antiques of Pre-Historical Period consisted of; rounded earthenware -30 pieces, earthen tray with pedestal-shaped-16 pieces, earthenware shaped like a mortar - 1 piece, small earthen round-based bowl - 1 piece, earthen censer - 2 pieces, a stone axe, a stone adze, shell-beaded bracelet - 2 pieces, and a shell fossil - 1 piece and river pebble - 7 pieces.
2. Artifacts of Dvaravati Period consistsed of; parts of earthenware - 96pieces, parts of tripod braziers - 2 pieces, an earthen hammer-beam, part of terracotta sculpture - 1 piece, a roller stamp made of baked clay, earthen plummet - 2 pieces, an earthen earring, a terracotta sculpture, a round-based earthen jar, a Buddha votive tablet mould made of baked clay, a Buddha votive tablet made of baked clay, a votive tablet made of baked clay featured the seated Buddha in Bodhgaya arch,  parts of Buddha votive tablet made of baked   clay-14 pieces, a burned clay brick, a part of a limestone, part of a stone medicine mortar - 3 pieces,  herb grinder - 2 pieces, bronze bracelet - 15 pieces, a small bronze bell, a head of a Buddha image, the left hand of a human figure - 1 piece, colored-glass beads - 13 pieces, and a glass bracelet.
3. Artifact of Lopburi Period consistsed of; an upper part of a Buddha votive tablet made of baked clay.
4. Artifact of Sukhothai Period consistsed of; a part of Celadon pottery from Sri Satchanalai kiln.
5. Artifacts of Ayuthaya Period consisted of; part of earthenware - 7 pieces, earthen hammer-beam - 2 pieces, the Buddha votive tablet made of baked clay - 2 pieces and part of a medicine bowl - 1 piece.
6. Artifact of Rattanakosin Period consistsed of a figure of snake head made of stucco.
7. Artifacts and antiques that were not able to identified period consisted of 3 objects in total as following; a part of an earthenware, a part of a small limestone and a cow molar.
