The Development of Rice Grain Coated with Herbals Hot Pack for Myofascial Pain Syndrome
Abstract
The aims of the this study were to: 1) Develop of rice grain coated with herbals hot pack for myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) 2) evaluate the effectiveness of pre-post treatment for pain relief and improvement range of motion (ROM), 3) compare effectiveness during the treatment for pain relief and improvement of ROM between rice grain coated with herbals hot pack and hydrocollator pack, 4) study safety inspection. Thirty subjects with cervical and thoracic levels MPS were randomly allocated to 1 of 2 groups,age 31-60 years old, treated with rice grain coated with herbals hot pack (n=15) or intervention group and hydrocollator pack (n=15) or control group for 20 minutes duration. Clinical evaluation included the measurement of pain levels using the visual analogue scale (VAS) and measurement of the ROM for pre-post treatment and safety inspection for post treatment. Results were rice grain coated with herbals hot pack has better effect in pain relief than hydrocollator pack and better in improvement of cervical lateral flexion to left, cervical rotation to left and right although
