The Study of a Spiritual Well-being Promotion Pattern Related to Early Sexual Behavior Prevention Among Thai Adolescents
Abstract
The purpose of this descriptive research was to study the spiritual well-being promotion pattern related to early sexual behavior prevention among Thai Adolescents. The collaboration of home , temple, school, and community model was applied as a theoretical framework. The 30 key informants consisted of the school directors sub-district organization members, monks, parents, village health volunteers, healthcare providers students, school health volunteers, and teenage mothers at a community in Nakhon Pathom Province. Data collection was conducted through focus groups and in-depth interviews from July to November 2015. The instruments were sets of open-ended questions (Matrix) and validated by experts. The content analysis was used for data analysis. The research findings revealed that the spiritual well-being promotion pattern includes the collaboration among home, temple, school, and community. The family gives love, demonstrate role models embrace religious activities such as food offering at a younger age. The school provides meditation practice, life skills, and spiritual development camp including financial support from community organization. The temple cooperates with the school to administer religious practice including five precepts, sermon, and meditation teaching related to wisdom and spiritual well-being. The researcher suggests that the spiritual well-being promotion pattern should contribute to the community with similar community context in order to solve early sexual behavior.
