Abstract

This research aimed to develop an augmented reality application to promote Lai Sue Thai letters learning. The evaluations of the application were a questionnaire and a matching test of Lai Sue Thai letters and Thai characters. The research procedure began with the development of the prototype application using Unity and Vuforia programs. Next, the questionnaire was examined by 3 experts using the content validity index. The average value was between 0.67-1.00. Then 20 participants were recruited by using the simple random sampling method. The age ranged between 18-25 years. The subjects were divided into two groups. The first group learned Lai Sui Thai by practicing writing while the second group, learned the letters through Lai Sue Thai application were. The results showed that the average values from the questionnaire were in high to very high levels. The Navigation system was rate at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.01, S.d.=0.42 ). Communication part was high (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.13, S.d.=0.39 ). Control past was very high (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.36, S.d.=0.37 ). Stability past was high (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.17, S.d.=0.40). Recognition part was very high (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.31, S.d.=0.38). Flexibility and efficiency part was very high (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.22, S.d.=0.42 ). Beauty part was high (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.05, S.d.=0.47 ). The character matching test score, which uses the independent-sample t-test for comparison, indicated that the significance level of the two groups was significant (t = -2.506, p <0.05). For further suggestion, the application could be used for learning Lai Sue Thai.
