HEALTH-RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE IN WOMEN WITH POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME

Abstract

Purpose: This research  were to study the health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).


Design: Descriptive research


Methods:  The participants were conducted  with 157 women with polycystic ovary syndrome, aged 18-44 years, received treatment at out-patient department of Gynecology in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Siriraj  Hospital and Rajavithi Hospital, who were selected by multi-stage sampling. The instruments were demographic data form and the health-related quality of life questionnaire. Their content validity was examined by 5 experts. Their Cornbrash’s alpha coefficients was .88. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.


Results :  The majority of women with PCOS  had  HR-QOL scores at a good  level. (Mean = 3.87, SD = 0.52) There are a total of 85 women with PCOS (54.1%).


Conclusion: Nurse should to develop nursing care women with PCOS, that plan to nursing care with the team provider care and promote women's lifestyle modification for this group to improve the health-related quality of life in this group is better.
