Effects of the GROW Coaching Program Combined with an Electronic Manual for Nurse Team Leaders on Perceived Teamwork among Nurses in the Surgical Department of a Tertiary Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
This quasi-experimental study employed a two-group pretest-posttest design. The objectives were to: 1) compare mean teamwork scores as perceived by surgical ward nurses between the experimental group receiving the GROW Coaching Program combined with an electronic manual for nurse team leaders and the control group receiving routine practice, and 2) compare mean perceived teamwork scores in the experimental group before and after program participation. The sample consisted of 52 professional nurses working in the surgical department, purposively selected and divided equally into experimental and control groups of 26 participants each. Two research instruments were used: 1) the GROW Coaching Program combined with an electronic manual for nurse team leaders, and 2) a perceived teamwork questionnaire with a Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of .95. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a t-test.
The results revealed that after program participation, the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher mean overall teamwork scores at a high level (M = 4.15, SD = .41) than the control group at a moderate level (M = 3.15, SD = .36) (t = 9.29, p < .001), and significantly higher than their pre-program scores at a moderate level (M = 3.18, SD = .25) (t = 8.91, p < .001) at the .05 level of significance.
The GROW Coaching Program, combined with an electronic manual for nurse team leaders, can be applied as a guideline to enhance teamwork among professional nurses in tertiary hospitals, improving team performance efficiency and the quality of nursing care
