Research and Development Study of Innovation Holistic Health Care and Building Immunity for Vulnerable Teenager's Group with Depression and Risk of Suicide
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research and development aimed to 1) investigate the situation and influencing factors of depression and suicidal risk among adolescents aged 13-19 years (n = 190) in Phetchaburi province, by collecting data using questionnaires with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of .85. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. 2) Develop an integrated health care and resilience-building innovation program for vulnerable adolescents with depression and suicidal risk, named "Power of Life Therapy". 3) evaluate the effectiveness of the developed program using quasi-experimental research with a sample of 40 vulnerable adolescents and 12 parents, collecting data on their holistic health care abilities using questionnaires with Cronbach's alpha coefficients of .76 and .89, respectively. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for data analysis. The research findings are as.
1. 57.36% of adolescents perceived themselves as having depression. Adolescents with psychological, physical, and social problems had a significantly higher likelihood of depression and suicidal risk (ORadjusted = 4.89, 4.09, 3.82, p < .001), and were predicted at 38%.
2. Following participation in the program, adolescents and parents demonstrated significantly improved holistic health care abilities (Z = 5.51, 3.04; p < .001, .003, respectively).
These findings reveal that the "Power of Life Therapy" program can be a valuable tool for mental health professionals to support adolescents and their parents, such as enhancing self-understanding in the spiritual dimension, fostering life energy, and promoting psychological well-being.
