An Analysis of Theses from the Master of Nursing Science Program in Nursing Administration, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University

Abstract
The purpose of this documentary research is to analyze the theme of the Master of Nursing Science theses Programmed in Nursing Administration. The samples of this study are 216 master theses in the nursing science program in nursing administration, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, which were accessed from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University’s Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), and Thai Digital Collection (TDC) between January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2016. There are 3 sets of research instruments: research selection tool, data extraction record form, and decision tree classification. Data are the classification of the themes under the Nursing Administration Research Database in Thailand (Kunaviktikul et al., 2012), and Global Advisory Panel on the Future of Nursing & Midwifery: GAPFON® (Klopper et al., 2020) and have been analyzed by descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, and linear trendline to display the trend.
The result shows that when all themes under the Nursing Administration Research Database in Thailand have already been classified, there are 10 themes, and the theme namely “human resource management” is the most commonly found, followed by quality respectively. When classified the themes proposed by Global Nursing Theme, GAPFON® 2016, there are 12 themes. The theme that uses the word “sustainable” is found most in common, followed by the word’s partnership and caring, respectively. Moreover, the theme under the concepts of “sustainability” “respect for diversity” “cultural competence” “interdependence” and “advocacy” tend to receive more attention and use as a thesis topic.
