The Innovative Development of Covering Fabric for Muslim’s Dead Body in Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Hospital

Abstract
The objectives of this research study were to develop and examine the effective of covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body and to investigate the relatives’ and nurses’ usage of covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body. The participants were purposively recruited, comprised of twelve Muslim dead-patient’s relatives and 12 registered nurses who had used the covering fabric. The data were collected using research instruments including 1) the assessment form for the usage of the covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body, 2) the questionnaire related to satisfaction of using covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body for the dead-patient’s relatives, and 3) the questionnaire related to satisfaction of using covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body for the nurses. The content validity of research instruments was evaluated by 3 experts and the content validity index (CVI) was .97, indicating a good level of content validity. The internal consistency reliability of the instruments was also tested and it indicated a good reliability with Cronbach’s alpha value of .08. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics.
The results showed that the effective of covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body in all aspects were at a good level, especially completely wrapping and unexposed of a Muslim’s dead-body ( = 3.00, S.D. = 0.60) which was better than the current traditional one when comparing in the same aspect (
= 1.67, S.D. = 0.65). The patient’s relatives rated a very good level of satisfaction of using the covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body in all aspects, especially the accuracy of the Islamic principles (
= 3.42, S.D. = 0.90). The nurses rated a very good level of satisfaction of using the covering fabric for Muslim’s dead body in the usefulness and utility aspect (
= 3.25, S.D. = 0.75) and the rest 3 aspects were rated at a good level of satisfaction. While the current traditional covering fabric one, the satisfaction level was rated at a fair level in the aspect of the accuracy of the Islamic principles (
= 1.92, S.D. = 0.67) and the rest aspects were rated at a poor level.
