Factors Influencings Stress of the Elderly in the COVID-19 Pandemic

This research was predictive research targeting to determine the predictive factors influencing stress of the elderly The Senior Citizen Association of Nursing Siam University Bangkok. Subjects were 95 community members aged 60 and elderly living in in Phasi Charoen District Bangkok that were chosen by simple random sampling. Suanprung Stress Test-20, Self-Esteem Assessment, Social Support Assessment, Health Perception Assessment was used among the others for data collection the reliabilities were .87, .86, .98 and .91. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, multiple regressions were used for data analysis.
The results indicated that the older adult of the elderly in the covid 19 pandemic perceived their stress as moderate ( = 40.64, SD = 1.036). As well, the results showed that factors influencing stress of elderly is social support could predict stress (p < .05) (β = -0.402, p-value = 0.001).
The findings of the study are beneficial in term of care designed for elderly. The study suggests that intervention for elderly should promote Social Support by encouraging them to participate in their activities will help to reduce stress.
