Abstract

Abstract

The development of provincial nursing networks for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients is crucial as STEMI is a medical emergency that requires prompt and effective treatment. Provincial networks can increase access to necessary healthcare services and facilitate integrated care across different service units seamlessly. While various STEMI care systems have been developed, such as emergency medical services protocols, treatment guidelines, and inter-hospital collaborations, studies on the development of provincial nursing networks for STEMI patients remain limited. Existing research is often confined to regional or national scopes and lacks a comprehensive coverage of essential components. This qualitative study employed a mixed- approach, combining job analysis and documentary analysis, to investigate the roles, responsibilities, and competencies required of nurses in the context of provincial STEMI nursing network development in Loei Province.

The analysis revealed that successful provincial nursing network development requires the integration of critical components, including infrastructure, efficient work processes, knowledge management systems, and continuous performance evaluation. Furthermore, additional research is needed to determine the appropriate organizational structure and patient transfer systems at the provincial level to ensure timely and high-quality care for STEMI patients, ultimately improving survival rates and quality of life. The proposed "Provincial STEMI Nursing Network Development Model" encompasses a comprehensive framework, encompassing vision and theoretical underpinnings, support structures, development processes, outcome measures, and continuous improvement mechanisms. It also defines key objectives, such as establishing high-quality, integrated, and seamlessly connected care networks across primary, secondary, and tertiary service units, with clear processes for gap analysis, planning, implementation, monitoring, and refinement, aligning with relevant principles and theories. Emphasis is placed on critical components like problem review, continuous care coordination, rehabilitation linkages, and communication with primary care units and communities.
