Abstract

This quasi-experimental study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design, aimed to investigate the effects of a pre-clinical practice preparation program for nursing students’ on perceived self-efficacy in nursing practice. Specifically, the study compared mean scores of perceived self-efficacy before and after participation in the preparation program, as well as students’ satisfaction with the program. The sample consisted of 53 third-year nursing students at Princess of Naradhiwas University.

The preparation program consisted of the simulation-based learning, readiness stations, and fundamental nursing skills practice stations. Data were collected before and after participation in the program using a perceived self-efficacy in nursing practice questionnaire and a satisfaction questionnaire after using the program. The experimental instruments included readiness training stations, simulation-based learning stations, and basic skills training. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test.

The results revealed that the students’ mean perceived nursing practice self-efficacy score after the program was significantly higher than before the program Mean = 4.18, SD ± 0.03; Mean = 4.00, SD ± 0.06, p < 0.05) Additionally, students reported a high level of satisfaction with the preparation program (Mean = 4.47, SD ± 0.08). These findings suggest that the preparation program contributes to enhancing students' perceived self-efficacy in terms of knowledge, nursing practice competence, and skills to make the students ready for clinical practice in the wards.
