Keywords:

Caring for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy is complex, encompassing both physical and psychosocial dimensions. Patients’ perceptions of the quality of nursing care and their satisfaction are key indicators that reflect the effectiveness of healthcare services. This study was a descriptive correlational research design aiming to examine the quality of nursing care, patient satisfaction, and the relationship between perceived nursing care quality and satisfaction among cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. A total of 402 participants were selected through purposive sampling. Three sets of questionnaires were used: a general information questionnaire, a nursing care quality assessment scale, and a patient satisfaction scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
Results: The findings revealed that patients perceived the quality of nursing care at the highest level (Mean = 4.86, SD ± 0.22), particularly in assurance (Mean = 4.89, SD ± 0.27), reliability (Mean = 4.88, SD ± 0.26), responsiveness (Mean = 4.88, SD ± 0.26), empathy (Mean = 4.88, SD ± 0.29), and tangibles (Mean = 4.79, SD ± 0.32). Patient satisfaction was also rated at the highest level (Mean =4.89, SD ± 0.22), especially in respect for patients’ rights and dignity (Mean = 4.91, SD ± 0.23), continuity of care (Mean = 4.89, SD ± 0.30), emotional support (Mean = 4.89, SD ± 0.28), provision of information and knowledge (Mean = 4.88, SD ± 0.27), and accessibility to resources (Mean = 4.88, SD ± 0.25). Moreover, the findings revealed a strong positive correlation between nursing care quality and patient satisfaction, which was statistically significant (r = .75, p < .001).
This research can be applied to improve nursing service standards by providing training for nurses in communication skills, confidence-building, and dignity-centered care. Additionally, developing clear practice guidelines can help enhance the quality of nursing care and increase patient satisfaction.
