Abstract

This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to study the hospital arrival time and factors related to onset to hospital for treatment of acute ischemic stroke patients at Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The study included all acute ischemic stroke patients who received medical care at the Emergency Department of Srinagarind Hospital from June 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017, totaling 188 patients.

The research instruments consisted of a patient demographic data interview form and an interview form for information about disease and seeking treatment at the hospital. These instruments had been verified by 5 experts. experts. The interview forms were tested with 30 patients before the study. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Factors associated with hospital arrival time were analyzed using Multiple logistic regression analysis.

The findings found that 65.4% of patients arrived at the hospital within the treatment time criteria (≤270 minutes). The results of the correlation analysis found that the most significant factors related to onset to hospital for the treatment time were travel time from the place of onset symptoms to hospital ≤60 min (OR adj 3.31,95% CI=1.47-7.48) and distance from the place of stroke onset to hospital ≤60 km (OR adj 2.35,95% CI=1.04-5.28).
