Qualitative descriptive research was employed in this study to examine the experiences of pregnant women with electronic fetal monitoring during the fi rst stage of labor in the delivery room of the Khon Kaen Hospital. The study was conducted using semi-structured interviews, focusing on and following pre-determined question guidelines; as well as non-participant observations. Content analysis was carried out for data collection according to the Symbolic Interaction Theory. The results revealed that pregnant women described their experiences within 2 issues:1) The process was a confi rmation of live birth. And 2) This process had to be under the supervision of experienced and knowledgeable nurses. The results suggested guidelines for caring for pregnant women who undergo electronic fetal monitoring during the fi rst stage of labor that nurses should provide information on EFM installation and suggestions for self-monitoring. It was also recommended to improve the external EFM limitations.Downloads
