The study aims to investigate the prevalence of depression, the problem recognition, and coping among
a group of lesbian persons in northeastern Thailand. The target group was female homosexuals aged between 19
to 40 years old residing -in four northeastern provinces; Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Burirum and Surin.
Data were collected using questionnaires consisting of the depression screening questionnaire, Heterosexist
Harassment Rejection and Discrimination questionnaire and Coping scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive
statistics, Chi-square and t-test independent. Results: From the sample group 27.7% had depression. Depressed
participants significantly perceived attitudes harassment and rejection notably. They more likely used emotion-focused and maladaptive coping styles than those who were not depressed with statistical significance(p-value
< 0.05).Therefore, the mental health activities increasing coping skills promotion will be prevent mental health
problem in lesbian groups.
