This qualitative study, philosophically underpinned by hermeneutic phenomenology aimed to explain the experiences of sick Buddhist monks in spiritual practice. Twelve sick Buddhist monks in The Luang Pu Man Phuri-tatto ward, Faculty of Medicine Khon Kaen University were purposively selected for the study. In-depth interview-ing, non-participant observation and note taking were applied for data collection. Data were analized by referring to the method of Diekelmann. The results reflected in spiritual practice by sick Buddhist monks ’s experiences was composed of two themes. 1. Practice of Buddhist principles. cauld be divided into three subthemes: 1) The three characteristics 2) Belief in the law of karma and 3) Having mindfulness (Sati) and living with here and now and 2. Practice of Buddhist –ways. such as paying respect to the Loard Buddha (Wai Phra) and chanting (Saod muntra), meditation. The consequence of spiritual practice by sick Buddhist monk’s experience was composed of four subthemes: 1) Having wisdom mind 2) Having powerful 3) Having peaceful and 4) Having happiness. The results of this study reveals a new body of knowledge concerning of the spiritual practice according to experience of sick Buddhist monks and provide basic foundation for health professionals for providing and promoting spiritual practice on sick Buddhist monks for effective holistic care.Downloads
