Needs Assessment for Development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skills to Enhance Work Value of Healthcare Personnel at Pho Chai Hospital

Abstract

Purposes : To assess the essential needs for developing artificial intelligence (AI) skills to enhance the work efficiency of healthcare personnel at Pho Chai Hospital. 

 Study design : A cross-sectional descriptive study. 

 Materials and Methods : The study sample consisted of 101 healthcare personnel at Pho Chai Hospital, selected through purposive sampling. The study was conducted
January 2025. Data were collected using a questionnaire with an Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) index of 0.973 and a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.943. Data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Priority Needs Index Modified (PNI _Modified).  

Main findings : Among the 101 participants, the majority were females (77 participants, 76.2%) with an average age of 38.81 years (SD. = 10.85). Most participants held a bachelor's degree (51 participants, 50.5%). The most common professional position was others (50 participants, 49.5%). The most critical need identified was the ability to assess risks associated with technology use (PNI = 0.241), followed by creative thinking skills (PNI = 0.224) and knowledge of data utilization (PNI = 0.219). 

Conclusion and Recommendations : The findings of this study will assist the organization in prioritizing preparations for AI skill development among healthcare personnel.
