Nursing care of patients glaucoma measured with Noncontract tonometer and Tonopen tonometer in patients with blurred vision with complicated disease : 2 cases study

Abstract

Purposes : To study and compare nursing for glaucoma patients with complicated problems screened to Noncontact tonometer and Tonopen tonometer : 2 cases study.

Study design : Cases study.

Materials and Methods : Selecting glaucoma patients with blurred vision was a complicated condition. Receive services in Out-Patient Department at Roi Et Hospital. specifically Select glaucoma patients with complications and High risk of blindness. Data was collected Condition assessment, history taking, information for planning nursing operations according to nursing diagnosis, summarizing and evaluating physical examination, laboratory results. Analyze data using scientific knowledge. Nursing theory and holistic nursing concepts, Including process, planning with nursing practice results the distribution of DMETHOD. Then improve and follow the nursing process until returning home.

Main findings : The results that two case study patients  diagnosed with glaucoma and had eyes measured using a non-contact tonometer as well. Case 1, age 53, had a history of cataract surgery before. Has a congenital disease, namely thyroid disease. Case 2, age 58 years, follow glaucoma, congenital diseases is diabetes and high blood pressure. Found that glaucoma patients had eyes measured with non-contact tonometer and tonopen tonometer. 

Conclusion and recommendations : Nursing care from symptoms by glaucoma with high intraocular pressure. The condition of the eye can be preserved, but the patient's vision problem remains the same, which is blurry and unclear vision due to the severity of the congenital disease and glaucoma. The nurse in provides knowledge and enhances care skills of relatives so that they can care for patients at home and receive continuous care.
