Development of Care for Elderly with Dependency Model in Srisomdej Hospital Roi-Et Province

Abstract

Purpose : To investigate situations and needs assessments, develop care model,and study the effectiveness of care model care giving elderly with dependencies.

Study design : Research and development research

Materials and Methods : Five of care givers and 10 elderlies with dependencies were target groups. The instruments used for development was care giving elderly with dependencies model. Data were collected by a questionnaire on self-reliant elderly care knowledge, the problems and need assessment of care giving elderly with dependencies model. The suitability and feasibility of care giving elderly with dependencies model. Performance evaluation form of elderly care givers, Barthel Activities of Daily Living :ADL. The Basics of dependent elderly, and satisfaction rating scale. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

Main findings : Care givingelderly with dependencies on community were consisted ofpreparing the community, preparing and preparing the network; studying, evaluating, andassessment ofrole and potential of elderly care and return of information; development of caregiver skills; care for elderly with dependence on the community; and evaluation of operation and dissemination of PATIA Model. It was appropriate and feasible, overall, at a high level ,and elderly care givers were at a high level. The elderly with dependence on the second group of 10 participants after the development showed that the elderly with dependence on group 1 increased by 5 participants or 50.0%, and the elderly with dependence on group 2 decreased by 5 participants or 50.0% and the elderly were satisfied with the model, overall, it was at a  high level.

Conclusion and recommendations :The results of this research result in a better quality of life for elderly with dependencies.
