Effectiveness of Practice Guideline for Caring Chest Trauma Patients with Intercostal Drainage in Trauma with Emergency Department

Abstract

Purpose : To study the effectiveness of practice guideline for caring chest trauma patients with intercostal drainage in trauma with emergency department.

Study design : Quasi-experimental Research.

Material and Methods : The research study was conducted in participants who were chest trauma patients with intercostal drainage in trauma with emergency department of Roi-Et Hospital from April to July 2023. a purposive sampling of 40 patients (20 for retrospective and 20 for prospective group) were recruited for the study. Data were collected using data record from and of practice guideline for caring chest trauma patients with intercostal drainage in trauma with emergency department. Statistics were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation and Independent t-test.

Main findings : The results showed pre-clinical practice guideline (CPG) had intercostal drainage slip away (20.00%), post-clinical practice guideline (CPG) intercostal drainage slip away (5.00%). In addition, at intercostal drainage slip away of pre-clinical practice guideline (CPG) was decrease than that of post-clinical practice guideline (CPG) (p=.38), and complication of post-clinical practice guideline (CPG) was decrease than that of post-clinical practice guideline (CPG) (p= .017)

Conclusion and recommendations : This study suggest the benefits of in practice guideline for caring chest trauma patients with intercostal drainage regarding hospital and patients outcomes.
